The basic principle is that rather than simply having a glass tank filled with fish and corals, instead you can create a more stable and more natural environment, by making it more like a real coral reef. The key we have found to doing this is very simple, it’s biodiversity. The more different species and habitats within your aquarium the more stable it becomes, and as we all know stability is everything when it comes to reefkeeping. Aquariums switching to the ECOSYSTEM approach find very quickly they get better colours and growth on their corals, far healthier fish, less work to maintain their better looking tank, and lower setup and running costs than most traditional ways of running a reef aquarium. Our top ten most popular products are filled every week with these packs, with over 75% of our customers have bought these. Our most popular pack of all is our Reefbuilder pack 1.

Our ECOSYSTEM invert packs were the first packs in the system. these are now on version 3.0, with better size options than before! Our snail basic pack A is always popular.

We also have the newer Top Up packs, a great way to add species in handy sized packs. Our Bumblebee snail Top Up pack is always a top seller.

Whilst not as big a seller as the coral and invert packs, these decor packs are a great way of adding different habitats and homes for small creatures. They don’t cost much, bring lots of benefits, and help create a more natural biotope.

Our newest addition is our Refugium World. This is a variety of creatures and plants ideal for living in a refugium or sump, adding even more biodiversity and stability to the system. It also allows you to keep non-reef safe creatures here, that you might not be able to put into the main tank. Remember with the ECOSYSTEM approach biodiversity is key, adding more species increases that all important species count. The more species you have the better!

When you see a coral reef in the wild they are a true wonder of mother nature. The towering structures of coral, and the huge shoals of brightly coloured fish are certainly attention grabbing. When you look more closely though you will see a myriad of tiny creatures all going about their daily business in amongst the corals. Just like a tropical rainforest the diversity of small creatures is astonishing. All of these little creatures each have their own role in helping to maintain a healthy thriving ecosystem. From humble snails eating nuisance algae, charming little hermit crabs tidying up scraps of uneaten food, to strange little conchs cleaning the sand, all these animals are working around the clock to help maintain balance in the ecosystem. The huge diversity of different animals is key to ensuring all these niches are filled.

Now you too can recreate a scaled down version of this within your aquarium, with our Ecosystem packs. This carefully chosen selection of reef safe animals will add a whole new dimension to your aquarium. These Salty Revolution Ecosystem packs are designed to suit reef aquariums, for larger aquariums simply add more packs. Even adding just a few packs will start to make a difference, even in quite large aquariums, so you can add a few packs now, and then add more to it later, or, to gain all the benefits straight away simply add all the packs now.

Occasionally some species may be unavailable, if so a substitute similar species of equal or higher value may be sent, you will still get at least the same number of species and animals.
