An attractive an easy to keep marine fish. An ideal fish for beginners being, hardy, colourful, and full of character. Normally you can only have 1 Dottyback per aquarium, but, Orchid dottbacks are much more sociable and can be kept in pairs or groups of their own species, but, still do not mix with other Dottyback species.

SIZE

Typically 1” to 2”, may reach 3” in captivity.

COMPATIBILITY

Can be kept in aquariums as small as 30 litres if they are the only fish. If kept with other fish they are best kept in tanks of 100 litres or more. As a general rule it’s best to only keep one Dottyback per aquarium, even if the tank is large, however Orchid dottybacks can be kept as a pair or group of their own species. As with most small reef fish they may jump if startled, so a tight fitting lid without gaps is recommended.
