Zoa+ By Salty Revolution.

Professional grade coral food for Zoas.

This is the label for Salty Revolution's all new Zoa+. Following on from the success of Coral Food 99 and Coral Poppers, Zoa+ is a professional grade coral food made specifically for Zoas. Zoa+ is made from a mixture of phytoplankton and zooplankton in the range of 1 micron to 250 microns, blended with moderate amounts of selected minor trace elements, strontium, iodine, and amino acids.

As with Coral Food 99 these are dosed with food particles and the elements are ingested directly by the corals. The burst of trace elements causes a stronger feeding response than traditional coral foods, so the corals ingest more food than they normally would do. When they ingest the food they also ingest the trace elements with the food, so that the trace elements are directly absorbed inside each coral polyp, rather than the coral polyps having to extract the elements from the water column. This means the corals can ingest far more trace elements and amino acids, far more efficiently than if they were having to extract them from the water. This means faster growth, better colours, and in commercial facilities far higher return on your investment.

We have been developing Zoa+ since December 2021, and the recipe was finalised in May 2022, but, only released for sale to the general public on 26th June 2022. Demand is likely to be very high for this product, from Zoa collectors and commercial coral farms.

Commercial growth rate data on Zoanthids.

How to achieve optimal growth rate on Zoas and Palys.

We have found we get the best growth rates running at flow rates of around 0.2km per hour, this is roughly equal to around 100x per hour water turnover. However, it is important the flow is uniform, and turbulence be avoided.

We grow our Zoas at around 20 to 50 PAR depending on colour of Zoas with green Zoas preferring around 50 PAR, whilst low light, or deep water zoas (typically yellow, pink, black, glowing, and pales pastel blues) prefer around 20 PAR. We aim for a colour spectrum of around 12,000K to 14,000K.

Under these conditions using our feeding regime we achieved growth rates on Zoas of the number of polyps increasing by 5% to 12% per week, or, doubling in polyp numbers every 16 to 6 weeks. On larger Palys we have had much higher growth rates as high as 25%+ with the total number of polyps doubling as often as every 3 weeks.

UK release.

UK launch 8am UK time, Sunday 26th June 2022. Demand is expected to be strong. Maximum 3 bottles per customer/household.

Commercial growth rate dosing instructions.

On day 1 do a 50% water change (eg on a 50 litre grow out tank change 25 litres). Do not add Zoa+ yet as new saltwater will give the best growth rates. We recommend using TMC Tropic Marin for best results.

On days 2-6 add 1ml per 10 litres of system volume daily (eg on a 50 litre grow out tank add 5ml each day for each of the first 5 days).

On day 7 add 1ml per 2 litres of system volume (eg on a 50 litre grow out tank add 25ml on day 6).

Please note this is designed for commercial grow out facilities, and professional and semi-professional coral collectors. Although this can be used in hobbyist systems quite safely, this food is specifically designed for achieving the best growth rates and colours on Zoas. For a more generalised coral food use our Coral Food 99, and Coral Poppers instead.
