Black frogfish (Antennarius sp.).

Although called Black Frogfish they can change colour, and in an aquarium will often turn black to better camouflage themselves. If housed with living (or artificial) brightly coloured sponges or corals, they may turn into a bright colour again. These super cute little fish are a fantastic fish for a nano aquarium. They are very efficient predators so tankmates need to be chosen with care (see below). One of the most entertaining and fascinating fish species to keep. Very highly recommended!

COMPATIBILITY

Very efficient predators. They are best kept in tanks with no other fish, shrimps, crabs, or lobsters. Anemones and some larger LPS corals may sting and/or eat the Frogfish. They can be safely housed with soft corals, most LPS corals, Tubeworms, Starfish, Sea urchins, Sea cucumbers, Snails, Conchs, and Cowries. Usually ok with Hermit crabs too. Frogfish are bursting with character and make amazing pets. They can be weaned onto frozen food with time, but, the easiest way to keep them is to add live river shrimp once a week. Add enough river shrimp so that by the end of the week there are still a few left uneaten.
