Harlequin shrimp (Hymenocera picta).

Please note: Harlequin shrimps ONLY EAT LIVE STARFISH. Harlequin shrimps cannot be weaned onto other foods. An ample supply of live starfish must be provided for them. A Harlequin shrimp will typically eat 2-5 Asternia starfish per day. Larger starfish such as 2”+ sand sifting starfish will also be eaten, a sand sifting starfish will last a Harlequin shrimp approximately a week. Harlequin shrimp can be kept singly or in pairs. Any two Harlequin shrimp will always pair up.

SIZE
Usually around 1”, may get to 2”.

COMPATIBILITY
Will eat starfish, and may attack sea urchins, sand dollars, and sea cucumbers. Gets on well with most other inverts. As with all small creatures, large fish may try to eat them.
