COLOURFUL AND FAST GROWING!

Chalice corals are one of the most colourful groups of corals you can get. Chalice corals can be found in almost every colour of the rainbow, and are a great way to add big splashes of bright colour in your reef tank.

As well as being very colourful, they are fast growing too. Some of the Chalice corals we farm in the shop grow so fast that they can double in surface area in just 3-4 weeks!

PLACEMENT

Chalice corals like moderate to high flow. The flow rate should be reasonably high, but, not so high that the coral struggles to catch and hold food particles.

WATER QUALITY

All corals require reasonable water quality. Temperature and salinity should be kept as stable as possible, and low levels of nitrates and phosphates. We find Chalice corals grow best at:
Temperature 28c-29c (82F-84F).
Salinity 34.5ppt to 35.0ppt (SG 1.026-1.027).
Phosphate 0.02ppm to 0.08ppm.
Nitrate 2ppm to 4ppm.

LIGHTING

When you receive your coral ensure you do not place it in a spot that is too brightly lit. If a coral is in a spot that is a little low on light it will generally manage ok. If the spot is too bright it can bleach the coral. If in doubt as to the right spot too little light is unlikely to do much harm, compared to too much light.

Chalice will adapt to most light levels fairly well. Aim for a PAR of 20 to 80.

FLOW

The amount of flow a coral needs depends on the type of coral. See PLACEMENT above, or, contact us if you are unsure.

FEEDING

We recommend feeding Chalice corals at least once a week. For faster growth feed daily.

COMPATIBILITY

Some fish may peck at or eat corals. Some inverts may also do so. If this is a species that does not eat coral in the wild, then chances are it is only doing so in captivity due to lack of food. Increase the amount of food and/or frequency of feeding. If they are a species that does eat corals in the wild then remove any fish or inverts that are harassing the coral.

All frags vary in size in appearance and so may be a different size, colour, or, shape, compared to the photo, which is shown only as a rough guide.
