Diana hogfish (Bodianus diana) care advice.

The best pest control for a frag tank. They do a useful job eating common pests such as Flatworms, Bristleworms, and Nudibranchs. Juveniles will also act like Cleaner wrasses (Labroides dimidiatus). Unlike many wrasses, Hogfish rarely jump, and don’t need sand to bury in. They also safe with all corals. They will however, eat almost all inverts including even Pistol shrimps, and even juvenile Mantis. They are relentless in hunting for inverts to eat from dawn to dusk. We often have these in our coral bays for pest control purposes. They’re quite a nice fish too, bursting with personality and friendly towards other fish. they change colour dramatically as they grow.

SIZE

We generally import juveniles at 1” to 2”. they will rapidly grow to 4”, and may even eventually hit 7”, but, 5”-6” is more typical.

COMPATIBILITY

Safe with all corals. Will eat almost all inverts. large specimens may eat small fish too. Otherwise peaceful, except towards other Hogfish. Only keep 1 Hogfish in any tank.
