TOP TIPS - How to keep Serpent’s head cowrie (Monetaria caputserpentis).

If you want a reef safe Cowrie then Money cowries will be a better choice. This species is not well studied. Some evidence suggests it is a reef safe grazer. Some say it may eat corals, but, often this turns out to only happen if the animal is given so little food it has to choose between eating corals or starvation. Some sources say it may be predatory, but, often this turns out to be scavenging of animals that died from other causes. We recommend only keeping this species with large fish, or, keeping them in refugiums, or sumps, where they do a very useful job.

CAUTION!

This animal is generally safe with larger fish, but, may eat or damage small fish, and/or eat or damage some or all corals.
