Keeping Clownfish in a marine aquarium care guide.

Clownfish are very popular, and are easy to keep making them the ideal beginner fish. Clownfish are best kept in pairs, and the best way to do this is by buying two that have already paired up. Clownfish love living in pairs, but, do not like sharing the aquarium with other clownfish. In aquariums under 8 feet long you should only keep one pair of clownfish. Do not add a pair of clownfish to a tank already containing clownfish. These are only available in pairs.

SIZE

Typically shipped at just under 1” upto 2”. Female common clowns may eventually get to 3”-4”, but they are very slow growing. Males are smaller, and even slower growing. We recommend feeding a minimum of twice per day on suitable frozen food.

COMPATIBILITY

Safe with almost all corals. They may bother some LPS corals if they do not have a suitable anemone to call home. We recommend Bubble tip or Long tentacle anemones for them, although they will quite happily manage without an anemone. As with all small creatures avoid housing with large fish that may try to eat them. Some small reef fish can jump from an open topped aquarium, we recommend using a tight fitting lid with no gaps.
