Falco hawkfish (Cirrhitichthys falco).

Hawkfish make great pets, they are bursting with character and often end up being the hobbyist’s favourite fish in their tank. This species can change sex from male to female and back again, so any two of this species always pair up straight away. They spend most of their time sitting in full view watching the world go by, but, can move at great speed when they want to. They do not require much space, a pair will live quite happily in a tank as small as 50 litres.

SIZE

We usually import them at 1” to 2”, they can grow to nearly 3” eventually.

COMPATIBILITY

We recommend feeding a minimum of twice per day on suitable frozen food. This species is safe with coral but will eat small and medium sized shrimps. They may also eat very small fish. They are fine with larger shrimps, and medium to large fish. Any two of this species will pair. A tight feeding lid is recommended with all small reef fish, but, is essential with this species. Do not mix with other species of Hawkfish as most other Hawkfish species grow much larger and are much more aggressive.
