Crocodile pipefish (Syngnathoides biaculeatus).

One of the more challenging species of pipefish. Grows very large and requires a tank at least 3ft long and 18” wide. Feeding can be a challenge. It will eat Amphipods, and small live River shrimp. Live brine shrimp is also usually taken. Can be weaned to frozen Mysis and frozen Krill pacifica over time, but, live food is essential. Does best in a species tank.

SIZE

Typically 6” to 10”, can reach 12”-14”.

COMPATIBILITY

Reef safe with all corals. Best kept singly or as a pair. Males may fight. Being much larger than most other pipefish is probably best not kept with smaller pipefish species, but, data on this species is very limited.
